Pocket slings are a funny breed. They need to be fitted to the person WEARING the sling in order for the baby to be safe in the sling. If a sling is too big, your baby could fall right out - this would be bad!
My DD loves the pocket sling, she has since she was about 2 1/2 months old. (That's when I got my first pocket sling.) I would pop her in using the kangaroo carry and off we would be. Grocery shopping, walking for exercise, or just hanging out with friends. She loved the kangaroo carry because she had easy access to her yummy little toes.
This shot shows us the optional padded rail and optional toy loop. You can also see the french hem in this photo. The french hem is a must, in that it provides the strength needed to keep the young one safely IN the sling.
The padded rail is good for teething babies to chew on when they are little and nice for larger baby's legs when they get older and are carried on the momma/papa's hip.
Here you can see the contrasting fabrics. I typically use two contrasting fabrics which allows the owner to have two separate wraps in one. The two layers of fabric add to the strength of the carrier.
This is a pocket sling that I made for a friend. She uses it to carry her tiny puppy around in. :-)
You will notice that this sling has a hook, to keep the baby-dog from exiting the sling unexpectedly.
This sling also has an optional little fashion pocket, big enough to hold a small cell phone or debit card or cash. (This fashion pocket is made out of Breast Cancer Awareness fabric - a cause that is near and dear to my heart.)
Another shot of the contrasting fabrics and the pocket.
